Hello! I am Chris Seijger, assistant professor Agricultural Water Management at Wageningen University. On this website I give an overview of the teaching and research I conduct, often together with colleagues and partners in other organisations.
I work in science to find out to what extent agricultural water management can be changed to facilitate new priorities in society (such as food security or environmental conservation). I call these change processes “reorientations”. I focus on international regions that are affected by climate change and environmental degradation.
Agricultural water management is a highly interdisciplinary field. Understanding the interplay of plans, policies, farmers, water managers, land & water resources is fascinating. Not only because it is about water, but also as it links biophysical and social aspects. Throughout my career I respectfully collaborate with people who share this fascination. This attitude enables me to cross disciplinary, professional, organisational and cultural boundaries.
